⛷️Cheapest powder day ever?

Learn about a happy hour with a sense of humor, how to get into museums for free, when to buy lift tickets for cheap, and an all access pass for teens.

Happy Tuesday, Tacoma. Settle in, sip whatever gets you going, and let The Tacoma Brief serve up its very first edition of Tuesday deals and discounts ☕️

In this brand new weekly email, you’ll get (at least) five of the best sales, happy hours, tips, and discounts that’ll help you save money while you’re out and about throughout the week (plus more Tacoma fun and games).

Let’s get to it!

🍺 This happy hour hits different

Walk into Oddfella's during happy hour, and you'll swear you've stumbled into craft beer heaven. With 24 taps flowing and prices that'll make your wallet do a happy dance ($5 select crafts, $4 domestics), this is where beer geeks and bargain hunters find common ground.

It’s a great place to kick back and relax — their motto is "get a good sense of humor or get out" (they're kidding... mostly).

Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 and all day from 1 to close on Sundays. The cherry on top? They also serve up "Happy Bites" that won't break the bank.

Pro tip: Snag 10% off your next visit by signing up for their newsletter. Just pop your email in the form on their website and consider yourself part of the Oddfella's family.

🎨 All the art, none (or very little) of the cost

Ever wished museums came with a "name your price" tag? At the Children's Museum of Tacoma, they actually do. Their revolutionary "Pay As You Will" model (the only one of its kind among U.S. children's museums) means every family can afford an adventure.

Pop in Tuesday through Sunday for hands-on fun, or swing by during Thursday's low sensory hours (2-5pm) when they dial down the lights and sounds.

Another option? Pacific Bonsai Museum lets you set your own admission price too (though they gently suggest $12 for adults). Seeing these living masterpieces up close is worth every penny.

As if you needed yet another museum to add your list, the Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor is also free (although they do gratefully accept donations).

Pro-tip #2: If you have a library card, you can check out passes to Lakewold Gardens, Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Washington State History Museum, too. While you do have to book your pass ahead of time, it’s a great program that not enough locals take advantage of →

⛷️ Your wallet’s favorite day to ski

Crystal Mountain is throwing it back to their opening year (1962) with $62 lift tickets the second Tuesday of the month. While February's deal day has passed, March 11th is just around the corner — you can (and absolutely should) grab those tickets now →

Aside from that, February 21st through the 23rd is Military Appreciation Weekend, where veterans, active military, and their families can score 50% off lift tickets.

Stick around Saturday afternoon for live music and festivities from 3-6pm →

Pro-tip #3: Can't make it this weekend? Military members, first responders, teachers, and medical workers can catch a break with 20% off midweek tickets all season long →

🎭 Parents of teens, this one’s for you

Your 13-19 year old can score $5 tickets to pretty much everything cool happening in the Puget Sound area with TeenTix. We're talking movies, concerts, museums, gardens, theater — even mental health support sessions.

Signing up for a pass is free and takes just a few minutes and gives them instant access to discounted tickets at more than 100 partner organizations.

In the next few days alone, they can catch free films at The Grand Cinema, wander Bellevue Botanical Gardens, check out the Museum of Flight and/or the Museum of Pop Culture, and dozens of other activities →

🏨 An excuse for your next staycation

Think you need to leave town for a proper escape? Hotel Murano is making it hard to resist a downtown staycation through March — if you book two nights, and they'll throw in a third for free.

Live in Washington or Oregon? Even better. Flash your ID at check-in to score a $30 credit for craft cocktails at BAR960 plus free parking (usually $28 per night).

Pro-tip #4: Your room key gets you 20% off at Tacoma Art Museum, 10% off artwork at Barlow Gallery, BOGO half off at Campfire Coffee, and 5% off at The Coffee Oasis.
